Dr. Thomas Armstrong was a National Merit Scholar, receiving a full scholarship to Bucknell University. He received his MD degree from Temple University School of Medicine. As a Captain in the US Army, he completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Fitzsimmons Army Medical Center in Denver. Following two years as a Flight Surgeon in the US Army, he completed his ophthalmology training at Temple. While there, he was honored with the “Best Eye Surgery” award.
He is the author of numerous articles on cataract surgery and glaucoma, and has been an invited speaker at several national medical conferences and seminars for physicians and optometrists. Following in the footsteps of his retired partner, Dr. Paul Frank, Dr. Armstrong has been the Chief of Ophthalmology at Abington Memorial Hospital since 1998.
Dr. Armstrong and his wife Donna, a college professor, live in Meadowbrook. Their daughters are both pursuing medical careers: one is in a master's degree in nursing program at University of Pennsylvania, and the other is a physician training in ophthalmology at Wills Eye Hospital.
